About MeterMath
MeterMath builds free calculators for the money side of home energy decisions: whether an electric car, rooftop solar or a heat pump makes sense where you live.
Every calculator starts from public averages, shows its formula, and lets you replace any number with the one on your own bill. We update prices as new government data publishes; the current figures are from October 2026.
Where the numbers come from
- Electricity prices and household use: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
- Gasoline and public charging prices: AAA.
- Natural gas: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Propane and heating oil: EIA.
What we are not
We do not sell equipment or install anything. Results are estimates for planning, not quotes or financial advice. Some pages may carry ads or links that pay us a referral fee; those never change the math.
